Seeing stretch marks on your skin can be very annoying as you know that these scars are very hard to get rid of. In addition to this, some form in places that make it hard for you to wear certain types of clothing as they can be easily seen. This is why a lot of people, especially women, would do almost anything to get rid of these scars.

These marks form on the body when the skin is subjected to extreme stretching due to the demands of the increasing size of the body during certain periods in our life. When this happens, the skin may the dermal layer of the skin may break and it will form distinct marks once it heals.

Once you already have these stretch marks, there are still a lot of options that you can choose from to lighten their appearance or eliminate them completely. If you are lucky and you didn't form any marks on easily seen body parts, you can just rely on wearing strategic clothing to cover up these marks.

For really large scars, you may want to try some procedures that can take out these marks permanently. One such procedure that you can try is dermabrasion. This method works by removing the outermost layer of your skin so that any scars will also be removed along with it. All surface scars will be removed completely while most stretch marks will also be eliminated.

If the first method seems painful for you, which it is by the way, then you may try another form of scar removal. This is through undergoing laser treatments. This method is a lot less painful as it concentrates on removing the scar tissue only, and will not involve removal of unaffected skin cells.

Another method that is very effective is cosmetic surgery. This removes the affected skin so that all scars can be completely removed from your skin. Unfortunately, this method is also quite risky as it has the same risks as any other surgery that involves opening up some parts of you skin.

Other safer methods that you can try are home remedies such as the use of cocoa butter and other creams. These help in moisturizing the skin and helping break down scar tissue so that it may be replaced with younger cells that will make the scar look lighter in appearance. Massaging is also another way of helping making scars look lighter.

Having very visible stretch marks on your skin does not mean the end of the world. You don't have to panic as there are many ways that you can try which will help get rid of your problem. For marks that you can predict that will form, especially during pregnancy, you may try several preventive measures so that you may lessen the chances that more scars will form.
