Stop Worrying ABout How to get Rid of Stretch Marks

by Jen Hopkins

One of the most annoying scars that can form on your skin is stretch marks. This is because by the time you become aware of your body, there might already some marks that have previously formed on your skin. And sometimes, no matter how much you try and prevent them from occurring, they can still form especially during pregnancy.

Stretch marks are not only hard to prevent, but they are also harder to get rid off compared to normal scars. This is because they form on the underlying layer of the skin which makes them harder to reach. When the skin stretches too far, it is the dermal layer of the skin that tears, so the resulting scars will also form on this layer. You will still need to go through the outer layer of the skin before you can reach the inside.

Since a lot of people do not want seeing these stretch marks on their skin, there have been many ways developed as to how they can be removed. One of the more common ways that people employ in removing these marks is through the use of scar removal creams. This is because people treat these marks as scars and believe that removal creams will also work on them.

One downside to the use of scar removal creams is that they are made for scars on the surface of the skin. This may make them less effective for scars under the surface of the skin. It might be better to use creams that are specifically made for stretch marks as you are sure that it targets the dermal layer of the skin.

Even though creams are the most popular choice when it comes to eliminating scars, they are not really the most effective. One of the best ways to get rid of scars is by laser treatments. These work by burning away the scar tissue left on the skin so that they may be replaced by newer cells.

Microdermabrasion and cosmetic surgeries are also effective ways of completely removing any scar. Similar to laser treatment, these two procedures also work by completely removing the scar. Microdermabrasion uses mechanical or chemical means to remove the scar, while cosmetic surgery also takes out the scar tissue left behind similar to laser treatments.

Aside from these expensive methods of scar removal, there are also cheaper home remedies that you can try to get rid of these annoying scars. The use of cocoa butter is one of the more popular home remedies used. Application of Vitamin A and Vitamin E gels on the skin is also a common practice. Massaging may also be a good way to prevent scars from forming as this can already break down scar tissue while it is still forming.

Stretch marks may be hard to prevent but there are still ways that you can use to get rid of those that have already formed on your skin. The more expensive procedures are more effective in completely getting rid of scars, while the cheaper methods may lighten your scars making them quite invisible.
